Dreaming About a New Car in Colorado Springs
Ok, I’m not one of those persons who takes exquisite care of cars, like my husband does (he even has his lawn tractor parked on indoor / outdoor carpet in the garage with a “Support Our Troops” sticker on the back). For me a car is a tool that is meant to be used (and sometimes abused – not intentionally). So, if I was a car and I saw me coming, I’d be scared. Dave Ramsey said, “Never buy a car from a Realtor...” I have to agree with him, in my case. I drive a 2000 Chevy Tahoe and I love it. I am approaching 250,000 miles on it with no major repairs, except 1 transmission (thanks to Jiffy lube). That old blue Chevy Tahoe still runs, leaks a little oil, here and there, but it runs well. It runs to Monument where the elevation is over 7200 feet by the Rampart Range (my son and hubby like to target shoot up in the forest). It runs to Manitou Springs to watch the athletes do the “incline” and enjoy a great natural lunch at Adams Mountain Café. It runs up the mountain from there in Crystal Park overlooking Colorado Springs (the site where I backed in to a piece of granite sticking out of the hillside with my bumper….the granite won).
It runs often to Woodland Park past the Dinosaur Museum and farmers market on Fridays and Saturdays (got some great turquoise jewelry there), it runs in Divide past Mueller State Park (beautiful!), it runs past the Wolf and Wildlife Center it runs in Florissant by the Florissant Fossil Beds National Museum and to the Sandborn Western Camps, it runs through Pikes National Forest in Park County near the 11 Mile Reservoir and Lake George, it runs to Cripple Creek past the Molly Kathleen Gold Mine to the casinos (this is like gambling in 1800s style saloons…very cool!).
Just east of Colorado Springs, it runs in Peyton near Meadow Lake Airport and right now you can pick up fresh, sweet Rocky Ford cantaloupes at the intersection of highway 24 and Meridian…yum! That old Tahoe has been a loyal companion taking me through all these scenic places and it never left me by the side of the road. So, would I dare to buy a new one? I think I’m going to keep our old blue Chevy Tahoe because it’s the only car we have that fits our two Bloodhounds (Harrison and Barkley). I’m sure my 16 year old son will have to use it for training wheels even though he and his friends call it the ‘loser cruiser’.
Still I would like to have a new car. Last weekend, I wandered in to Al Serra Chevrolet just see what they had. I thought of buying a truck. When I show homes and drive all over, I want my passengers to be comfortable in the back, and still have room for signs, an ice chest and snacks. I have shown homes in a few blizzards (that was crazy), so I need a great four wheel drive vehicle. I found I really like the new Suburban. So, I took the steps to take some pictures and place it on my dream board. Dave Ramsey says you have to be a millionaire to buy and new car and then you should pay cash. Well, I guess it is back to work for now with me and my old Chevy Tahoe. Thanks for going on the ride with me. It was great to shop and dream!
